one thing i can't completely understand is the general affinity to retro and vintage among musicians. on the other hand some things have arguably been more stylish in the past and there is a certain aura of patina with some instruments that cannot be denied.
yet, did jimi hendrix, charlie christian, django or les paul play and use old guitars? heck no! they were always looking for something new and their guitars for the task were never old stuff, be it electric or acoustic.
this doesn't mean that i won't appreciate a nice d'angelico or any other vintage archtop or maccaferri, they're just not my cup of tea instrument-wise. or financially, for that matter!
